about to fix my leaking HPOP and step up to an Adrenaline. Looking at replacing the discharge fittings when I do and have a quick question. Dieselsite instructions say the oring seals it and to only run it down to where the fitting body touches the pump. Diesel orings instructions say the 680 locktite does the sealing and to torque to 25 ft/lbs.
There is an O ring on that fitting and O rings are seals. I heard that loc tite seal story too and my local shop tells me that loc tite does not seal and that sounds logical to me. As Sous says, only torque to 25 ft lbs and with a light torque like that loc tite will be needed to keep it in place.
If DieselTechRon (God rest his Soul) and my memory from one of his videos is good,
He said he never did bother with the Loctite.
I agree with WalleyeHunter. The O-Ring is what creates the seal between the fitting and the HPOP body. The o-Ring IS the seal. Loctite is NOT meant to be a sealer of threads. I do however see the reasoning to want to have some type of thread (locking) on those lightly torqued fittings. Not something you want vibrating loose. Though ol' Ron said he never had a problem just "snugging them up". Didn't even need to use a torque wrench! But that's what years of experience will do for you. DDT

I would agree with you 100%. I replaced these fitting around 2 years ago. I didn't use loctite. They worked there way loose in the 2 years and I just had to replace the o rings again. This time with Loctite. I would defiantly use it if you have it.
I'm a big fan of threadlock. Have had more than my share of fasteners work their way loose (e.g. starter bolts). I always have some "blue" medium-strength around. Loc-Tite 680 was the specific formula called for regarding HPO connections so that's what I used. I don't know why that specific formula (heat, pressure, oil?) but if it lasted 13 years then hopefully I get another 13 years out of these.
if I am not going to do a big build any reason to opt for the stainless steel insert the Adrenaline offers for $100 more? Supposed to prevent thread pullout.
