I have a 2000 CC Ford F250 I just put infinity Kapps in all four spots. Stock Deck. They sound like krap. Maybe an amp will help. I know by reading yall guys and girls no you stuff. I have High end speakers and what a hi end amp. Thanks for your help.
I have two small kidos so really dont need the boom of a sub just want a good clean sound when i am driving by myself.
Well if you are planning on going to an amp, you'll probably need to get a new head unit, unless you want to use an LOC converter you'll have to get one anyways. I'd say try that and if you are still unsastisfied then go with the amp.
bang for the buck buy an american made amp(pheonix gold, rockford fosgate, viper). they have better internals and usually less draw. a nice 75X4 @ 4 Ohms would sound sweeeet. my directed amp for my RF 6" AND 5x7 is a 4 channel bridged to 2 at 150 watts per. it's hard to find better sound for what i have invested.
ps. go to a shop that specializes not a bestbuy or other mega store.they want 2 make a sale not a repeat customer
I think you have the right idea in increasing the power, but bang for the buck I'd tell you to buy a new head unit.
Nothing will sound "sweet" going through a line out converter- it's still a bad signal.
If you want to stay with the stock head and get an amp, there are certan things to look for. For mids and highs, you're looking for a class A or AB amplifier. The next thing is power matching. You can damage speakers by either under OR over powering them----SO:
What's the RMS rating on those speakers? Match that (within about 20%) to the output of the amp company you are looking at and you should be good.
The next number you will want to look at is the distortion between the amps you have found with the correct power rating. Lower is better. Should be less than .1%.Could be much much less, but don't get something higher than that!
Brands are personal preference. No matter who you are though, Legend, Pyramid, and Kraco all are still hunks of junk...
I installed (4) infinity kappa 572.5cf speakers in my F-250 reg. cab superduty. My head unit at the time was an alpine 7839 and I was very disappointed with the sound quality. My friend told me they were under powered, and to get an amp. I installed an alpine mrv-f540, 4 channel amp , and the kappa's sound absolutly incredible! I couldn't believe they were the same speakers. If you want quality sound , your gonna have to spend the cash. Good deals on ebay.
I did the same thing you're trying to do ('03 cc f-250) . I put Infinity's on all four doors, I left the stock unit and wired those LOC converters (I think they're Install Edge) and then put an Alpine f-340. The sound is amazing!! I wasn't trying to get extremely loud but I'm like you, I just wanted a full rich sound and that's what I got
I Thank yall for the reply to my post. Im glad to here that the amp helped your 03 250. I have been looking on ebay for an amp around 200-250 bucks 4 ch and close to 100watts RMS . I think i might buy a JL or a kicker amp any feed back on this. Or any more brand name amp that are High end. oh the Kappas are 100 watts RMS.
