Has anyone gotten the kit with there truck yet?
I can't remember, how much is that camera? It can't be too much.
I tow quite a bit & although I don't have my truck yet, that cam is something I'm really looking forward to. I may have to purchase a least a second cam if not a third to hard wire my most used trailers. If your truck is already prepped for it, I can't imagine it wouldn't be worth the investment - especially if you're getting it at a discount.
Not sure on the list price of it.. Was wondering if anyone has gotten the kit yet, wanting to check out the quality of it.
There was a thread a few days ago that gives installation instructions for the Trailer camera and TPMS system. It was surprisingly complex. Nothing that anyone can't do but pretty involved changing the bumper plug and harness wiring.
I've ordered the kit with my truck but I'm having second thoughts about it. The camera is only useful when in reverse and the TPMS senders require dismounting and mounting the trailer tires. For me that will be 6 tires and 2 extra senders. I naively thought because it was OEM Ford the whole system would be plug and play and well thought out. Still hope for that but I'm going to have to figure out how to enable the camera when the truck is moving forward. LockPick should be coming out with something soon on that.
The option price of the Camera kit with the TPMS is $725. If you just want the trailer camera it's $375. These are the MSRP prices listed on the ford build site.
I'm getting the whole package. Instant tire readings are a must when towing long distances and the camera will be a big help because I travel alone and it will help me from getting out of my truck when backing up my 30ft 5th wheel.
Those numbers are right. Several guys are familiar with less expensive wireless cameras and TPMS systems and are plenty happy with them. For all I know, the Ford system is awesome except for the issues I mentioned.
