Good afternoon all,
Im new to this site and i am in need of some serious help. I have a 2004 F250 Superduty with the 2003 6.0 Powerstroke inside of it. In the morning i can go out and start the truck perfectly fine starts up and runs like a champ, it will drive to any destination perfectly fine with no issues, ALTHOUGH .... once i reach where im going if i turn the truck off it will not start correctly. it cranks over and will start but sounds as if it is hydrolocking and in a matter of seconds kills itself. once it does this i have to let the truck sit for a minimum of 4-5 hours with the hood popped to allow motor to cool... as soon as its cooled completely i can start it and once again it runs perfectly fine until i turn it off again. if i leave it running at an idle it will sit and idle all day long and i can jump in and drive it fine. IT JUST HAPPENS WHEN IT GETS TURNED OFF. if you have any ideas please i need the help. Thanks, Jeremy
Spoobie it sounds like a high pressure oil leak (internally). Starts cold won't start hot. There could be other things going on. Do you have access to a data reader, Scangauge, ForScan, Toque pro. You can guess at a lot of things and throw parts at it. Get a reader or borrow one. Best money you can spend.
is an SCT tuner efficient enough? if the truck is running right i can check the codes and nothing pops except for the egr delete... but if the truck does its issue it pops codes for cylinder 3 and 5 contribution balance (aka bad injectors ) but its intermittent it doesnt always pop those codes which makes me unsure whether its the injectors or not i dont wanna just start shotgunning parts into the motor without having i true direction to go in
I'm not that familiar with the SCT Tuner but I don't think it will, so maybe somebody that is will chime in. I don't want you throwing money or parts at it either. That's what data readers keep us from doing.
You likely have a case of the classic early build engine HPOP going out.
You need a way to monitor data live
ICP and IPR are the two most critical things do start things off.
We also need to know the health of the FICM.
It's possible it's something else, but the fact it's a no start hot and will stay running all day long hot without shutting it off means you likely have an internal oil leak, as Tideman eluded to earlier.
Do a search on numerous threads here for doing an air test.
