The fuel gauge selector switch on my '74 F250 is acting up in that you have to flip it back and forth a few times before the gauge will show the fuel quantity or it will just read zero. The only fuel gauge selector switches I have found are for '75+. Can I adapt it to work?
Most likely,D5TB-9A050-A
I have two on my desk right now...
Actually, that's not a part number. That's Ford's engineering number. Ford hasn't put an actual part number on parts since the early 50's. Any number on a Ford part is either an engineering number or a casting number. It's real common for several different engineering numbers to cross over to a single part number.
The part number for the 75 and up switch is D5TZ-9A050-A, the switch is marked D5TB-9A050-AA
The switch for 73-74 trucks will be marked D3TB-9A050-AA even though the actual p/n is D3TZ-9A050-A.

Thanks silk, I like mikeo0o0o0 locateing abilities, besides he needs a good work out every so often. lol
I had him parts searching for some front axle parts a while back. Google/Amazon came up with expensive china repo stuff, mikeo0o0o0 came up with NOS parts for 4 or 5 bucks.
Actually, and shockingly, all of them i looked at quickly were listed as oem ford parts. And other than rockauto, who was out of stock, non of the vendors listed were the "normal" parts houses. But yeah, i get it, Mike needs to flex his parts searching muscles or he will lose them.
Oh and by the way, it is SLiK, not silk. It comes from my initials. Since we are busten peoples chops this morning.
Oops sorry, when I see that slik..smooth as silk comes to mind or my dyslexia is kicking in when I typed it. Maybe was having a flash back from my younger days or I need to get better glasses. lol
Thanks for the parts update SLIK. We are not busting no chops this am are we.
Okay guys, I found 73 switches at 50 different Ford dealers, but on this switch Mac's really isn't out of line. The last prices listed by Ford were dealer cost $27.43 and suggested list was $49.87.
