Anyone out there know what the cause of a stuck drive shaft could be? When I turn the control ***** to "lock" , i have to give the truck extra gas to get it to go. When the hub locks are "free" no problems. Usually I can back up and then go forward but not always. Also, I took the hub lock off and noticed that there is about 1/4" to 3/8" end play in the drive shaft. I didn't think this was normal. Any help?
I checked the drive shaft u-joints and they appear solid with no internal movement. They are OEM and not greasable.

It's pretty much a certainty that some or all 5 of your front driveline U joints are dried out and either partially or totally seized just from age and lack of use. It would be wise to remove the shafts and change these joints and while you have it all part check and/or change fluid in the diff and t-case.
It is also a good time to repack the front wheel bearings. You can often reuse the seal but if you don't know when it was last replaced they're typically very affordable.
I would rent a spindle socket, 4x4 socket (4prong to engage the bearing preload and lock nuts), slide hammer for spindle removal, and a ball joint press for u joints (especially helpful for the inner u joint on passenger side of the front axle: prevents needing to disassemble the front diff).
If you 4 wheel in deep mud I'd consider buying at least the 4x4 socket.
