I can confirm Android Play works with Sync 3, you have to go to Settings Icon, Android Auto Preference - Enable (Icon turns Blue)
You have to install the Android CarPlay app on your phone. I plugged my phone in your USB connector and but not 100% sure you need it, will verify but with USB bamn you are good to go!
There are several "agree" screens on both truck and phone but once all of them are selected you are good to go!
The only thing I can get it to do is tell me fuel level and parking spot, it will not do the other stuff.

Is it the Ford Pass app that is telling fm you the fuel level?
Yes, I think ford pass tells me fuel level and last place parked.
Maybe it takes awhile for that data to come in. Mine just had really basic info like 3 year/ 36,000 warranty and asks if I want to schedule service or contact roadside assistance.
