Got my motor all done, now trying to put it back in the truck. I got it between the frame, but I cannot for THE LIFE OF ME(5+ hours) get it to line up to the transmission or even the motor mounts.
It is lining up closish to the passenger side bell housing bolts, just enough to not be able to get the bolts into the hole.
The drivers side it sits about 2-3 inches too high to get any bolts to line up.
The drivers side motor mount is 2-3 inches too high and too far forward.
The passenger side motor mount is sooooo close but everytime i try to lower it in the oil pan hits the crossmember first.
No matter what combo pushing/pulling/twisting it never changes and just will not line up. I have jacked up, dropped down the transmission. I have ratchet strapped the motor to give it the angle I thought it wanted.
ANY input is appreciated, I do not know what in the world i am doing wrong.
You need to line up trans before eng mounts. I jack the trans as far up as I can, line up trans to engine. Sometimes I use longer bolts to help line up trans to engine. Get one side close with a bolt, the other side is easy. Is your converter all the way into the trans?
I took pics but they are taking forever to send to my email. the motor mounts are still on engine, i actually got out there at 8am to get started. got the passenger side mounts in, just to see you need to line up the trans first.
Ill double check and see if the TC is all the way in. and try the longer bolt idea
As of right now the engine is jacked up with a ratchet strap to give it a ~30* angle to try to get it to slide into the trans
well with the help of my father, we got it all aligned and bolted! just have to tighten to spec and then start putting the rest of the motor/cooling together. the end is in sight

we had to put a ratchet strap to the front of the motor to give it a pretty steep angle to line up to the trans. also had to ratchet strap the motor on the passenger side to turn it so it would line up to the trans.
