Trans Mount

Hi all,

Have to replace the Engine mounts and trans mount on My 95 F150 4x4 with 5.8L and auto trans.

What are the best places to jack the engine and trans up?
Also will I need 2 jacks, one under the Oil pan and one under the trans pan?

The entire engine and tranny has moved forward 1/2 inch due to neglected mounts.
Just purchased the Truck. The shop that did the prepurchase inspection Missed the Broken mounts.
But that's another post for the Folks in Phoenix, AZ.

Any Ideas on how to move the engine and trans back so the New mounts will line up .
I've been told to use a 2x4 on the fan but that would destroy my radiator.
Tug gently on the aft Jack? boy that could get ugly!!!

Cheers!

I think I would do the motor mounts first, then the trans mount. With every thing loose you should be able to pry the engine back a little. Put a 2x4 under the back of the oil pan to jack the motor up. If you have a floor jack with wheels, position it so the wheels will roll when you pry back on things. I wouldn't remove all three at once, things might get away from you.

Thanks Egor,

Did the front mounts first then the Auto tranny mount.
Needed two Floor jacks to lift the entire drive line.
One on the oil pan and on on the trans pan.

With all three mounts installed, used a 4ft long medal bar against the balancer and presto!

Lowered the trans first then the engine and now have new mounts all around.

Thanks again for the quick responce and technical expertise.

J.
