So, I figured it all out. The guy I bought this Ex from said it was bone stock...it's not. Ive got tunes in it apparently that are causing the wastegate to illuminate my MIL when I step on it. My boost #'s were at 22. When I was clearing the code before I bought AE, the cheap reader wasn't picking up the P1000 code (monitor) that goes off when codes are cleared and my smog check was failing. I spent a ton of money throwing new parts into the equation. Moral of the story for anyone reading this, just spend the money on a good reader such as AE or any of the others recommended by the fine members here and in this thread...it will save you many times over. Thank you to all who offered their opinions and help, this site is invaluable.
Cool, glad you found the problem. was the code setting the check engine light the ICP out of range (P1211) or the over boost (P1249, P0238) You can prevent the over boost code by installing a boost fooler or changing to different performance tunes that will not set the code. If it's the 1211 than it most like from a "hot tune".
It was only setting the P1249. Funny how quickly the boost numbers rise, I was getting the code even under normal acceleration. Pretty cool watching my numbers in AE while driving. White Buffalo I just checked my PM's and sent you my email.
Be careful running a hot tune without an EGT gauge (exhaust gas temp), if your pushing over 22 lbs of boost at the map sensor and the boost is climbing fast you could be approaching the 1250 degree EGT redline mark.
When you get the chance and get more familiar with AE datalog:
ICP
ICP duty Cycle
MAP
BARO
EBP
RPM's
This will reveal what type of chip/tune you are running.
