I've got a 1996 f150 with the 5.8. I just installed long tube headers. They have o2 bungs but the pass side is facing the trans so it's useless. So I tried wiring up 1 to plug into the ds and PS wiring but it runs like **** then. If I leave them unplugged it runs like a raped ape but idles like crap. I've only ran the front o2 sensors for over 5 years. And it's always ran great. Do I need to weld in a pass side bung and run 2 sensors. What has everyone else done. Thanks in advance

I would think if it had two sensors before you added headers, it still needs two sensors. I'm not sure why that passenger side bung is clocked so badly, though.
If your truck is MAF equipped, I"m pretty sure it needs to read both sides of the engine to make it idle correctly.

I bought Pacesetter header's and had the same problem!
Even with a replacement set, tge O2 bungs weren't correct. I know how you feel.
I got my passenger side O2 in, and just barely. You'll have better luck welding in an O2 bung where you can access it best.

Just for knowledge sake: you can run without the post cat sensor with no running issues, it's just checking the cats but not used in fueling changes. The front two sensors are critical during closed loop operation for correct fueling; so basically the truck will only run ok if in open loop with the front sensors compromised: completely cold (open loop on startup), heavy throttle, and deceleration conditions. You must run both front sensors.
