That's the stock block. The inboard wing is a bump stop.
The term High-boy only refers to F250 4x4s up to mid 1977.
Your half ton should measure about 21 inches vertically between the front axle centerline to the wheel arch. Measuring so excludes any height difference due to tire height. The rear end would measure btwn two to three inches more given the factory rake.

Thanks.
I read the High-boy thread but it there are a lot of different opinions on there so it was hard to decipher.
Nice truck, short bed not a highboy, 1/2 ton not a highboy. So it has a cab gas tank and a bed with a gas flap, is the bed or cab a transplant by chance?
X2 on stock/factory rear block. Are those 33's for tires?

Oh oh, no idea on the bed or cab. Is there anyway to tell after the fact?
I just thought it was a clean one owner truck but....maybe this is a tell tale.
The switches to change tanks are not in the stock location, there are toggles in the lower left of the dash.
I thought the gas caps on 77 beds had a door like mine.
The cab? I'll be pulling the carpet and seats, would there be away to tell if it's been replaced?
The tires are 35's , too big for my taste but that's how it came. I'd also prefer the utilitarian look of steel wheels.
Look under the headliner (at least the thin lip part under it) the area just left of the sun visor center block. Should have a month and year stamped to indicate when cab was assembled. Does it match the white Safety Certification Sticker date on the B biller?
Does the dvrs side door Warranty Plate date and VI# match the paper title VI#'s? For trucks with bed duel tanks (both frame mounted) the early switch was a lever switch just down on the dvrs side of the seat in the floor.
Newer I believe had the switch on the R/H side of the environmental control panel. Take the 35's off and Craigslist flip sale trade them for 33x12.50x15 or even 31x10.50x15.
Just keep in mind that IF the truck was regeared for the tire size and you go to a 30 or 31 inch tire, its gonna raise your rpms quite a bit when running down the highway. But on the plus side you can blow the tires off the rims from a dead stop.

All vins match. Cab tank has Ford shipping label with a 76 date on it. Truck was built 11/76.

Thanks. I doubt it was regeared. Tires and wheels were a recent addition right before I got it because, according to PO, during a routine tire rotation BigO forgot to tighten the lug nuts....and a wheel departed company.
I'll probably go with 33s , I have 31s on my LandCruiser and I think they would look small here.
Probably a good idea. Many go up to a larger tire just for looks. There are many benefits to having a proper sized tire for your vehicle, given the gear ratio, engine power band, stress on steering components etc.
Would be glad to help with some new tires, being you are soon to be in the market.

What's the significance of this? My '77 Highboy is 100% original (except for wheels and tires) and has both an in cab tank and fuel door in the bed (doesn't lead to anything tho).

Nice truck.
Yeah I think I was kind of sent on a goose chase by 77&79F250. No worries, I learned a lot more about my truck.
Searching images there are a lot with both tanks.
