Power steering pump pulley removal

Do you have to get a puller to remove the pulley from the PS pump?

Yep make sure to get the one that fits all the way around the collar on the front. Shop KD Tools Automotive Alternator Pulley Puller and Installer Set at Lowes.com Or something like that.

Damnit! Thanks. Why can't they design stuff with the average person in mind. Would it be so hard to put a keyway in the shaft. Ito already got threads for a bolt.

Yep it's a press fit. The puller and installation tools aren't a problem for me since I needed them back when I was a tech.

Autozone has that tool as a loaner. Just take the pump to the Autozone and they let you use it right there.

Can't take the pump without taking the whole bracket with it. Otherwise I would.

True statement. Until the pulley is removed there is no access to the front bolts.

So how do the high pressure line plastic gasket and o-ring go on? Actually just the plastic one, the o-ring is self explanatory. The plastic gasket was too small to go over the line fitting and too big to go in the pump side.

I put it on the same way I put o-rings on, a 90* pick and work it around and up at the same time. I put 3 pumps on in 2 weeks, it worked every time.
