HEI dizzy upgrade

So I have a 1996 F150 that lost spark. There is no signal from the PIP sensor. I was thinking about using an HEI distributor to cut out alot of wiring. My question is will the new dizzy not having a PIP sensor cause problems in the ecm/ecu?

The PCM relies on the PIP signal to trigger spark and turn the injectors On/Off. No PIP..no spark or fuel. Also keep in mind on 1994 and later trucks the computer controls the dwell (spark on time) as well.

The stock system doesn't have that much wiring, and actually works pretty good. In fact, putting in a distributor that has the module on the distributor itself would be a step backwards.
