64 Econoline Van on 20"s experiment

Experimenting with some wheels the owner had laying around that came off his wifes Sentra.

I think they look pretty good. Gotta put all new longer studs in, 1/4" spacers and bigger steering stop bolts to prevent steering arm and leaf spring contact. Other than that they fit with no fender issues.

My first thought is wagon wheels. Could be the look you want?

Drive gently. Base wheel was a 13" heavy duty was a 14". Mind your aspect ratio. Try to stay sorta close to the OEM overall diameter at the tire. Though it does have a look about it. Over size wheels beat the day lights out of pretty much every thing. In fact anyone out there who's been a service adviser will tell you the first word out of the extended warranty company is Any mods or over sized wheels. (That is to the point of notoriously damaging mods. not that your in a warranty situation) I see you have a V8 and the original drum brakes. over size wheels, Beside accelerated wear on the steering box (ouch good luck finding one of those), tie rod ends, wheel bearings, & transmission to name a few(Those problems take time). what can take no time at all is over size wheels can cause the brakes to fade at high speeds. I think it was Archimedes that said " give be a lever long enough and a place to stand and I will lift the earth". Be mindful, the greater diameter rim may create a mechanical advantage the brakes can not over come.
on the other topic after you get the fan shrouded in lets us know if that fixed it. I have an old OEM radiator in mine. Its a 3 tube (thicker) but the area is I think 17 by 20 or there about's. My 300 is punched out and I was having problems in traffic. I put the 7 blade fan from the 300 on it without the fan clutch. it cools ok Very little road time on it since I moved to vegas so that may turn out to be bs statement. the 7 blade fan really lugs the engine down with out the fan clutch. you'd thing it was going to pull the van down the road by it's self. Speaking of pulling with a v8 that thing must fly. As far as brakes go I think Willwood makes a disc conversion kit with a 2 stage master. only 1967 had a 2 stage master. All others are a single. so keep your hand brake (or in our case Emergency Brake!) in proper order. Loose any thing loose every thing don't boil them!

I agree 100%. Brake upgrades are top on the long list of upgrades. Big disc brakes all around, new lines, MC, narrowed 9" rear axle are just a few things coming. It's a tailgater that will only see a few hundred miles a year, but it's going to be solid.

15"x12" in back, custom backspace, 15"x6" up front. wheels are ET's, rear end had to be narrowed, springs moved in, rear wheel wells widened about 4". rear tire size is 295-50-15, fronts, I can't remember, but if you gotta know tell me and i'll look for you. the main thing is they're short.
