First I know I cant spell worth a crap so bare with me...
Has any one ever seen suicide doors on a 70's truck? Yes sounds crazy but a friend and I where haveing a talk, he's into crazy stuff like that and of course he's trying to talk me into it. Alittle to radical for me but I would like to see a picture of one if there is any out there.
I've seen several pics on the web but can't remember where. Unfortunately, most of them are on lowered trucks so I didn't get a real good idea what they'd look like on my 78 w/ 9" of lift and 35's.
I've been diing to do it to my truck ever since I built the tilting front clip. I've also been seriously considering gull-wing doors because of the deep holes I've been stuck in that prevent me from swinging the door open.
I'll look for some more pics and post back if I find any.
With a lifted truck, wouldn't it be a PITA to get in with gull wing doors? You would almost have to have them on a hydraulic system or something so they would float up when you pulled the handle. Which would be pretty darn cool!
Getting in would be easy. Trying to close the door once you get out would be tough. The thing would be 8 feet in the air.
I could make them fold down so I could use 'em as stairs.
I also thought about making them like the Lambrogini (sp?) where they rotate forward, or have them swing up onto the top of the cab. Or, perhaps, all 3. <hehe>
Just use the PTO from the transfer case to run a Hydraulic pump, then have your doors push button - also with that, you could hook up a ladder that would drop down when your gull wing doors raised, giving you easy acess into your truck
Any of you ever though of custom making this on a 73-79 extended cab, so it would be like the style of new trucks. Somebody could pull it off im sure.
Hey, maybe I'll try to get a hold of monster garage and see if I can donate my truck and have them fix it for me. If they pulled it off it would be pretty cool..
