2011 E350 FPDM Problem

Hey, been lurking for a while trying to figure out this problem with no luck. Maybe someone has an idea. Sorry for the long post but wanted to give all the info.

I have a 2011 Quigley E350 with an intermittment problem:

-Over the last couple years it has a no start problem (maybe 10 times in 3 years). Usually after it's hot and coming to a stop, like pulling into a gas station after driving a while, never while driving. Usually just won't start again, a couple times it has died while idling after stopping (again never while driving), just stutters, runs rough then dies, then won't start.

-It seems to be the same symptoms as an interia switch no start, engine cranks, sometimes stuttering, no fuel rail pressure. This model does not have an interia switch that I have found, believe it was eliminated in '09 or '10?

-I checked the FPDM on the driver frame rail for corrosion but it is all plastic, not aluminum like the truck ones with problems, connections were clean, no cracks in the housing and seal looked good.

-Unplugging and plugging the FPDM back in immediately solves the problem. Goes for a long while before happening again.

-Bought it used, I have added trailer wiring with a kit from e-trailer, but did that right when I got it so unknown if this issue was there before. Has happened with and without a trailer and with and without electric brakes on the trailer, so I don't think it's the trailer wiring. Have tried disconnecting the brake controller wiring and the Scan Guage but still does it rarely.

-No codes

Thanks for any ideas!

Use caution with an aftermarket module- I had one truck that ran ok, my boss wanted to replace the FPDM as a preventive measure, and suddenly the truck would run out of fuel pressure at cruising speeds. I could watch it on the scanner, driver percentage would be around 20% at idle, and once I started getting into it the percentage stayed right at 48% while fuel pressure dropped and the engine started sputtering.
Changed the module out with a new Motorcraft and it was mostly better but pressure still dropped under heavy throttle. Put a new fuel pump into it and it was all better, even with the Dorman module. It seems the Dorman unit can't provide the amperage if the pump is on it's way out.
In your case, if a new Motorcraft module doesn't fix it, it may be due for a fuel pump.

Thanks, wasn't sure if there was a way to test the module before just getting a new one. Thanks for the advice to stick with a Motorcraft part. Van only has 25k on it so hopefully not the fuel pump yet.
