It's a 1991 Ford F250 5.8L 4x4. I just changed the oil a week before and did it correctly (like any 8yo should be able to do). Was driving it slow on some back roads when I suddenly lost all oil pressure and started hearing a faint click click click sound so I pulled it over and turned it off. The oil dipstick registered nothing but I couldn't find a leak, oil filter is on tight, oil plug is on tight, and all the hoses looked fine. Put some more oil in and ran it for a bit to test it, still heard the click sound but still couldn't see a leak or smoke or anything. Still have no oil registering on the dipstick.
Well it went somewhere, either out the tailpipe or a leaking rear main seal or front seal or well any other gasket, but you should be able to see any of those with a leak that big keep adding oil till it registers on the stick but 5 quarts should suffice.
On my 460 I had a similar situation, turned out the block off bolt for the deleted oil cooler got loose and was spraying oil everywhere. Including on my exhaust which led to a big cloud of smoke behind me. Couldn't find it until I turned the truck on and looked around the engine bay.
I've done this once where I forgot to remove the old oil filter gasket before spinning on the new filter. Coupled with the odd desire to push my car out of the garage resulted in me spilling it all on the ground, and driving a couple miles on the freeway before seeing the oil light flash.
