Last night i was out with some buddies, after a couple of buds; i decided to go home. Anyhow, as i drove back home i noticed a funnie smell coming from my truck. It smelled like burning oil, as if i had'nt changed my oil. Thats the thing i had just changed my oil that particular morning. Well, i was missing about almost a full qt of oil left too put in the truck, but i decided to buy the qt last night after i got out of work. Could missing almost a qt of oil, caused my truck too smell of burning oil?
This morning i added the oil too my truck, checked the oil filter too see if any leaks, along with the bolt in the oil drain too see if that was leaking? Nothing? Everything, seemed perfectly fine no leaks? Any particular thoughts fellas, on what could of caused this funnie smell??
During an oil change it's not unusual for some of the oil to get on the block while refilling or removing the filter. The smell is just the oil burning off.
Was gonna say the same thing, but Bridge beat me to it.
BY THE WAY....not to get too picky...it's oil on the exhaust manifold that burns off, not oil in the bock....now if the oil runs from the block to the manifold......but I digress.
Shouldn't last long at all, and if this is all that it is, it shouldn't be harmful. BUT BE CAREFUL...too much spilled oil could cause a fire!!!

Maybe the couple of Buds you drank made you paranoid and you imagined the funnie smell? j/k
