Ac Clutch?
Hey all i was just wandering, is there a replacable clutch on the AC compressor? I got a 93 351 and when i run the AC the compressor taps, but the AC works GREAT. I really don't want to replace the whole compressor and have to switch to some new refrigerant that doesn't work as good as what i have now (i guess R-12) THANKS!

I replaced the clutch (FS-10 compressor w/R12) on my 93 last year. It took all of about 15min. If its just the clutch that is getting worn (mine was very bad, and the bearing was totally shot causing the pulley to wobble quite a bit) you can replace just that and not have to mess with the field magnet at all

Having recently been through this, allow me to weigh in. My AC clutch went out and I replaced it for almost $100. Then the compressor went out. While pricing a new compressor, I found that a compressor and clutch ***'y doesn't cost much more than the clutch alone. Had I known that in the first place, I would've replaced both when the clutch went out. Just something to think about.
