after lurking around for awhile i decided to join up. names john and we just picked up this 52 f1 panel with a 48 front end on it. got a 390 and c6 in it. got it running but still no brakes. still have tons to do but we will chip away at it and get it safe. not doing a full resto. just want to drive it and have fun and mess with it as we go.
Welcome and it looks like you got something that is a solid start. Just a warning, I started off with the same idea "just get it running"... now look Stick to your plan.
Welcome very nice start, don't get caught up in "everything at once"........ stick to the plan and drive her til she tells you what she wants to be when she grows up :-)
Welcome to the family. I just love a "Monkey Face", and to have it on a Panel, as rare as they are, dude you have one very cool truck. Hopefully you will post lots of pictures as you bring her back to life.
Welcome and thanks for showing us your "new" truck. You've come to the right place for advice and encouragement as you begin your journey with your F1 panel. I too have a panel, and like you, wanted to keep it running and driving during the restoration process. I've been pretty much successful with that and have enjoyed driving my truck while "chipping away' at the things that needed fixing. The ride has been fun, but more expensive than I ever imagined.
Welcome. Cool truck. I like the "rolling project" concept. It allows you to go cruising and also gives you something to talk about at the cruises. Guys love to talk about what they have done to their vehicle.
thanks for welcoming me to the board. hopefully i can add more updates soon as my goal to get it halfway drivable is the end of summer which is coming up fast.
made a little progress lately. got my radiator tacked in place. the po cut off the stock mounts to mount a chrysler rad in there. got it plumbed also. man i didn't think it would be so hard to find a hose with two different sizes on it. so i used a piece of exhaust pipe to join the two.did the same on the lower hose also. got the seats mocked up to see what and where to mount those. the rear brake drums were rusted on something fierce. took me around 45 minutes each to get them off with heat! and a actually got to drive it on my buddys 3 acre
property! not much more than a fast idle but i drove it just the same.
