I have replaced mfs less than a year because of high beams not working, last night working fine, oncoming car passed and hit high beams nothing, light on dash shows highs on
first thing i would do is check the bulbs. many many times i have seen cars/trucks come into the shop complaint no high beams or no low beams. 99% of the time new bulbs fixed the problem .
^^^^ +1 above; if the dash indicator lights up, the switch is most likely good. Easy enough to check for voltage at the high and low terminals on the connector at each lamp. Are you running a relay harness, by any chance?
Did you test/swap the relays? (Presumably separate relays for low/high...)
BTW, always good to mention aftermarket/mods that might be relevant in the opening post. Also wise to start troubleshooting with any aftermarket/mods that might be associated with the problem.
I will check relays and do a ground check any tips on grounds other than the obviouis ones today, you are right I should have stated about the aftermarket parts I was trying to figure out why if it is whats shorting out the mfs, found the one I replaced still in the garage , I don't want to start a collection of them
If the low beams are working, it's most likely NOT a ground, except perhaps the ground for the high beam relay. One thing you might try is the old "revert to stock" troublshooting tip - disconnect the relay harness and connect one headlight directly, and re-test.
