nice work Randy. Did the springs go under the axle so you welded a spring perch on top of the axle? Were the wheels rubbing the fenders hitting bumps with it loaded?

Thanks...
Correct on the springs and welding a new perch on top of the axles since it is a drop axle and you can't flip those.
There were some dents in the bottom of the aluminum diamond plate where the axles had impacted at some point.

Couple more pics --

That's where I got all my stuff from. The only catch is whether or not you have brake mounting flanges on your axles. We specifically bought a Big Tex trailer because they all have brake mounting flanges whether or not the trailer comes with brakes.

You appear good enough with a welder to install some yourself, but I'm certainly not. Was told they have to be dead straight to avoid brake wear issues.

Hi Tom,

Thanks.. The flanges are already on the axles.
A buddy has a Prodigy controller he's giving me as his truck came with one factory installed.
I might still do the brakes yet... I'm swinging hot/cold on that right now.. I've a number of other things I have to get done before we leave..

Yeah... Since the camper is semi-permanently kept on our lot in AZ, the only time the big guy gets used is when I need a truck. Most of the time an F150 or Ranger would do the trick... So he will get a load of Premium Diesel along with a battery tender on him for the winter - stored in a heated garage at about 40 degrees..

After you spent all that time and money fixing up that toyhauler it seems like a shame to have hauled it on one trip and then let it sit. Why not criss cross across the southern states with it over the winter? Make some use out of that new dually as well!

Good evening everybody!

Trailer looks good Randy, I'll bet brakes would be a huge improvement.

A pallet and a half of retaining wall blocks and I turned this......

I sure could have used Jay's expertise. A few little things to clean up and I'll be on the home stretch of my summer projects, putting the last of the pavers down in front of the house.
