I stopped and looked in Buleson as well. I had the same observation. They had a white XLT parked by a lifted truck, and there wasn't much difference. I'm not a short guy, and it was hard for me to see in the bed. Don't think I'll even have to mess with a level on these. It'll be interesting to see what size tires will fit on factory height.
Is the frame taller? Is there more head room in the new cab?
No additional headroom. From what I understand so far, it's due to the flat floor that just increased the overall height of the cab like a body lift. If anything, the cab is actually smaller. Still plenty of headroom, but if you sit in a 17 and then immediately go sit in a 16, you notice the difference. Biggest difference I noticed was how the door curved into the roof. The space between my head and the roof at a 45 deg angle and right above the door decreased on the 17 model, but not enough to make it uncomfortable by any means (I'm 6'1")

That was another concern of mine. Part of what I learned with my tape measure is the bed on the 17 is 1" deeper, or the rails stick up 1" higher than the 16 model.

I wish it was that easy. Getting in the truck isn't that big a deal for me, but I also carry a ladder on a weekender rack on a regular basis and reaching said ladder is where the problem lies.

Probably, but the 2wd with no tow package sits as tall as the 2016 with a tow package from what I've seen.

I'll take that bet. I didn't try to read the tape at the highest point in the center of the cab. I was just trying to read it at the corner where it slopes down. Granted I couldn't look at it dead on as I'm only 73", maybe 74" with boots on, but I'll bet I'm not off by more than an inch.

LOL, sorry had to.
I wish, and the joke doesn't bother me.
I'm actually looking at 2016's now to see if I can find one before they are all gone.

What I read on the Ford site said, "depending on options" or something along those lines. I've asked 3 dealers and emailed Ford what options made it so tall. So far I got nothing.
The stock 17" tire is 31.5" tall, the 20" tire is 34.1" tall. That option will raise the truck 1.3". If it has the camper or snow plow springs, it might gain another 1/2". That's just shy of 83" and taler than many u' garage door openings. It's taller than all 7' garage door openings with a few inches of snow on the ground. I'm glad I put in a 8' door!
The "standard" tire option would be 18" AS tires so the 20" AT would make it sit up 1" taller at 82.5". Heavy suspension package would probably lift the front up and make it set more level but not higher overall. Any other added options should add weight and if anything make it sit lower.
When Josh took the first pix with a tape it was really high- I don't remember the measurement but when a stick was laid across it, it measured 81.5" and I don't remember if that truck had 20"s or not.

I also highly doubt 85".
Agreed. Negative on the 85". Josh measured a SRW 350 with 20's at 81.5".
My parking garage at work shows a height of 6' 5" so I may not be able to use it any more. My bosses 2011 f250 4x4 fits fine.
That doesn't sound right. That seems unusually low for a parking garage clearance height. My 2016 F-250 FX4 barely fits in the parking garage at work. My truck is at least 79.7" high (according to Ford) and fits with only a few inches to spare. That may not even count the fact that my truck is on 20" rims. The garage clearance sign shows a height of 7'4" which translates to 88". That sounds like plenty of room and over half a foot of clearance. I've noticed however that pipes running through it come down another four inches or so. There are also points where you hit the ramps and the roof looms even closer than that in spots when looking through the moon roof. In reality I doubt I've got more than 4" at the lowest points. At 79.7", that translates into roughly 6'6" or so. So unless that 6.5" clearance you mention is only at the garage's absolute lowest point, I doubt that measurement is correct.

MediumDan had already confirmed a couple different times that the 20s don't increase the overall height. For what reason I have no clue (shorter sidewall on the tire?) but I assume he knows more about what he's talking about then most of us combined.

All things being equal, I'd think the rim size would increase height by a small amount. Of course the tire profile may be different on the factory tires Ford uses to keep the heights roughly the same. It makes sense from a manufacturing standpoint.
Actually, they do get taller based on rim/tire combo. The 17's are 31.7" tall. The 18's are 33.2" and the 20's are 34.4". (I used Michelin LTX AT2 and other brands may vary slightly...) The difference will be half the amount if you subtract the shorter height from the taller. So, the a truck on 20's will be 1.35" taller than a truck on 17's and so on.

We are a trip this weekend (short weekend to Houston) so I decided to take some measurements with my 5th wheel and current 2011 F-250 and apply them to a 2017 F-250 4x4 CC SRW short bed with 18" wheels.
My 5th wheel when on a level concrete pad leveled (auto level system) the pin box is 55 inches high. Then I add the 2017 F-350 bed height plus the B&W companion hitch height and I get 56.75 inches. I think it is safe to assume it will sag about an inch or so. So I don't think I will be nose up.
As far as cargo box wall height, with my 2011 and my current hitch setup I (hitch height is 19 inches), I have almost 9 inches clearance from top of the bed rail to the 5er. With the 2017, I will lose an inch due to the taller bed rail so 8 inches then I lose another quarter of an inch as the B&W companion has a max heigh of 8 and 3/4 inches vs 19 inches on my current hitch So... I should have about 7.5 inches of clearance which should be plenty.
Well this has me freaking out again. I don't have the snow plow, heavy duty tow or camper springs on my order. I thought this was settled and I was going to see 81.5". Now I am just praying I am under 83.5". Geesh
