Ford's specifications state that the 2017 Super Duty crew cab is 81.5" tall in the 4x4 configuration. For 2016, the height was 79.7" for the F-250 and 80.8" for the F-350 SRW.
I measured a lariat diesel last week and to the top of the box rails it measured 60 inches. About 4 inches taller than my 2009 . I hope it will level out with the camper in tow
For those of us with fifth wheels, it's noteworthy that the rail height of a f350 srw platinum is almost 3" taller than the dually. (1.7" for the base truck + 1.25" for the taller srw 20" tire on the platinum)
It's also interesting that the f450 squats .8" less than the f350 drw when loaded. It was the same squat for the 2016, and the spring specs I've seen on the 2017 indicate no difference between the rear springs; somethings amiss here.
As far as fitting in a garage, the dually is 81" tall and the srw with 20" wheels is 81.1+1.5=82.6" tall
The 250's will be 3.5" taller than most of the previous generation as they get the 2" taller 4" block now combined with the 1.5" frame height increase. The SRW 350s will be less of a change as they only gain the 1.5"...
I saw a couple of '17s at my dealer in So. Utah, not a fan of the looks, too boxy and definately not a fan of how high they sit. I really think some 5th wheel folks will have a problem with pin heigth.... we'll see. If I had one I would have to change out the rear blocks, there's just waaaay too much room between the tire and the fender. Made the tires look rediculous on it.
Because "Bigger is Better", don't ya know? These young dudes are going to buy the biggest and baddest thing mommy and daddys money can buy and drive them like a sports car. All of the brands are getting bigger because that's where the money is.
People using parking structures had better really be on their toes.
Yup. I worry about it now with my 2011 F-250 - will be much worse with the 2017. I have covered parking at my office but it is 7.2 feet so I hopefully it will be fine.
