This morning the suspension on the navi wouldn't air up. Wife drove it to work and home before I found out about it. The compressor is running, but sounds funny. Faster and higher pitched than normal.
Since the suspension is flat all the way around I suspect that the wrist pin broke on the piston and is letting the pump free spin, as opposed to a height sensor or bag failure.
I'm running to oreillys now to get a pump. Just wanted to throw the symptoms out to the board to see if it sounds familiar to anyone and find out what your fix was.
Wow, I'm not really sure you'd se a wrist pin break as noted. Maybe?
Did you check your bags leaking as that's pretty common and also, the splice in the rear line right over the power steering pump. It too can develop a leak and keep the bags from filling.
Thanks. If I remember I'll take some pictures tomorrow. The piston and rod were little more than chunks and dust.
Can't hear the new pump running at all, which is cool. Also, oddly, the front end sits about an inch higher than it has in years. Also cool. That pump had been trying to die for a long time as it turns out.
Without first finding out what is wrong? It could just as easily be a broken air line and the pump sounds different without any load on it. Yes it could be the pump, but that's a good chunk of change to shell out on a guess.
