Hello, I would like some help with this. So my 1985 f150 came with cruise control, and I would like to add a factory ford sport steering wheel, but also keep the cruise control. I have the correct dealer installed cruise switch for 1985 and what wires do what...
White - Set / Accel
Yellow - Set / Coast
Brown - On / Resume
Orange - Off
Red - Power
What I was wondering is how to wire this switch for the factory cruise control module.
Not sure the dealer installed cruise used the same brain module. See how the factory system only used one wire and ground to do all those functions? Maybe you can retro fit some resistors of the proper value into your switch? Don't know.
There was a thread that discussed this in the not to distant past... I believe the gist of it was that the two systems are entirely different (dealer installed vs. factory). I don't think it is as easy as just splicing in the column mounted switch. I'm pretty sure you would need the entire dealer system to make it work or go aftermarket.
