I need to hook up a pcv valve to the Bronco. In the factory form they are usually hooked to the fitting with the breather element inside the air cleaner. I have also been told that the big port on the carb is a good place to pipe it into.
Which is a better place to route it?
Will it cause problems being piped into the carb? Like crudding it up or causing too much of an open ended vacuum draw?
Both the PCV valve and the breather cap are needed for a functioning crankcase ventilation system.
In stock form, the PCV valve was located at the back of the engine, in the passenger's side valve cover. From there, a vacuum hose connected it to the back of the carburetor spacer, facing the firewall.
The oil breather cap was located at the front of the engine, in the driver's side valve cover. From there, a vacuum hose connected it to a small filter that was attached to the air cleaner base.
I have a breather cap that has its own filtering element inside of it. So I suppose I don't need to connect it to the air cleaner?
Then I need to plumb the pcv into the nipple on the Edelbrock carb base?
Mav and Fonzie are right. But, you said it correctly in your last post. Get the small grommet we talked about and put it in the pass side rear. Install the PCV valve there, and run a hose to the base of the Edelbrock. And, put a cap on the port on the front.

Please, when asking questions, list all the pertinent details, like the year and the engine size.
Assuming your Bronco is a 1980/86 with either a 302 or 351W:
Bill, thanks for the diagrams! However, the Bronco is a 1987 351W HO, but nothing is factory that has to do with the PCV system. It has aftermarket valve covers, carb and air cleaner. This pic will lay it out perfect for my 82 F150 (Junior)build 4X4 , extended cab, 351W with the C6, NP208 and 9". That truck will have an aftermarket manifold and carb too, but the valve covers and breather will be factory.
Thanks again!
I need to see if I have repped you already.
I just purchased a 1992 E-150 wheel chair van. upon inspection once it got here, I found the PCV clean air intake hose loose and tucked between the air intake hoses. pulled the cover off the air filter housing and found the crankcase filter just laying inside the housing not connected to anything and the end of the hose has some sort of nipple that loosely fits inside the aircleaner hole. something is missing here to make this work properly and to keep from sucking dirty air into my intake. do you have a good picture of what I am supposed to have or a diagram for 1992 351w
after a lot of searching, I finally found a Ford diagram that shows my system I will attach for others who need the information for new that the ones shown above. I priced the clip I need is $61+ thru Ford. off to the wrecking yards we go. thanks all for the responses.
