Key duplicates
Key duplicates
I'm down to my last key and am having trouble finding a place that can make duplicates for me. I've gotten one that will open the door, but not engage the ignition. Is this something you have to get done at the dealership?

Could use a few details about the key trype. If it's an electronic key, you might have to go to a dealer -- or at least a locksmith (might be cheaper).
They've started this 2 key business to reprogram them from what I understand. I imagine that they will say it's for security. Don't expect it to be cheap if it'ss a programming deal.

Is it the key cutting that is giving you a problem? Will the key not turn in the ignition? If the key cut is fine and the vehicle will not start when the key is turned, then the key has not been mated to the PATS system. Does not matter if the vehicle is keyless or has a key, there is two different coding's required to make the key work. One for the door lock and the other for the ignition. I would suggest you go to a dealer and get it sort out.
