Hi I am coming here from the truck side I have a 1990 F250 I am rebuilding the motor but came across this deal and could not pass it up. Friend of mine had it and well it will run with starter fluid and it runs great but fuel is not getting to the engine it has 40000 miles on it. Now I have done a KOEO test and well got some codes sort of not sure of the first flashes when I first turn the key it flashes like sputters quick then pause then codes as follows. The best I can tell 221 959 695 96 the pauses are in between those I guess maybe I am wrong. What gets me from what I have searched some of those numbers don't jive. The problem is it turns over fine but no start except with starter fluid. I also shorted #6 to check the fuel pumps still no start. Also as big as this is what do you guys think about towing it with my F250 to get it home if I cannot get it running here. Thanks
I recommend posting this in the 87-96 F-Series forum. You will get more help there. Also, you cannot get 2 and 3 digit codes at the same time. Your van should only generate 2 digit codes.
What year is it? Does it have a single or dual fuel tank set up? If it has dual tanks try it on the other tank. The fuel tank selector valve has been known to crap out.
I don't know if your motorhome would have one but something else to check would be a fuel pump inertia switch. If it's tripped you won't get any fuel.
I've also had vans that if they sat for a while, you'd have to turn the key to the run position, turn it back to off and then try to start it.
First sensor to check is the MAP sensor, if the vacuum line is cracked, broken or not attached to the intake manifold, the ECU will not get a signal and not trip the fuel pump relay, causing a no start like you described, but it will try to start and run with starting fluid sprayed in the TB intake.
