Can we get some shots of the interior ? Would love to see it.
And just curious are there any small holes drilled inside on the drivers door ?
The only thing that doesn't add up is there is a 6 cylinder under the hood.
No small holes drilled in the door..why do you ask?
I double checked and the first digit being a 4 States Ford 8 Cyl.
Maybe at some point the engine was changed as the rocker cover is not the correct colour for 57 so I bet at some point the engine was swapped. We are on the Prairies and most all of these trucks were Farm trucks so they were kept running in the most cost effective manner possible.
My 57's first digit is a 6 But has a 272 V8 in it. And I know for sure it originally came equipped with an 6 as the Engine Serial is on the door (More on that in a bit) so if you are ever looking to get rid of that 6 give me a call As I'm not planning on keeping the 8 in my truck. And we could maybe work out something out. My 272 Runs fine but needs a rebuild she is just wore out.
This brings me to the holes in the door thing. My truck was originally purchased by the RCAF and in that era the CAF/DND added data plates (dog tags) to the drivers door of all off the commercial off the shelf vehicles that outlined all the pertinent information about the vehicle for the motor pool tech's since they were not standard mil issue. See attached pic. So I was just wondering given the proximity of the serial numbers if your truck might have been a DND purchase also.
The parts I have collected so far are unique to the Panel truck.
The Door glass is available after market and I'm sure some of the guys on the forum know who supplies the best quality reproduction glass.
