Need help

I don't want to put the gas tank back in the cab or my 56' F500 but I can't find anything to use. Can I use a frame mounted tank from a 55' mounted under the cab???

Not sure on the tank, but I just wanted to say that I am a fan of those size of trucks also. Looks like you got a good one.

It is definitely a nice truck. I do have a bunch of work to do on it. The one thing I like best about it is no cancer.

It would be a lot of work but I don't see why you couldn't use a 53-55 fuel tank. You'd have to change the drivers side running board brackets with some 53-55 brackets (maybe you could get straps and all) and then you'd need to figure out where the filler was going to come out. Don't forget 53-55 are 6V your 56 is 12V.

All of the parts are available just a little spendy.

I made some rough measurements a few years back and found some later model Ford truck inside the frame tanks could be mounted inside the frame of my F4. Check them out. We have a lot more room to play, a lot more options, than the smaller truck guys.

Hello everyone. I am new to the forum and I am having all kinds of difficulties I have an 02 Ford ranger 4by4 with a 4.0 auto tranny. I am limited on garage space and tools but thought I should have what tools I did need. At first my o/d light was flashing and you would have to get up to between 3500 and 4000 rpm to get it to shift into drive or overdrive plus it seemed to lag when trying to put it in reverse. I now have a check engine light on as well. I took it to the shop to have it put on the computer to see what they tell me. From everything thing I was told it's the OSS sensor. Ok I went n bought that sensor. That's where I am stuck cause I can't get no socket to fit the bolt. I am trying to find out what the size of the bolt is holding the OSS in so I know I have the right size tool

On my COE I used a long narrow tank inside the frame behind the cab. Fits between the frame and drive shaft.

If you want to use the '55 style tank, I have some running board brackets with straps. From a pickup, not sure if they are the same as big truck?

Rob, Welcome to the FTE group. You've posted in a form for the older series ford ttruck. If you would post in the Ranger section you would most likely receive some help from those folks knowledgeable of the Ranger series.
