I need a favor.

I'm reworking my cab. Over the years, several different heaters were used in my truck with different mounting stud locations and heater hose locations. As a result, my firewall is filled with holes. I am now in the process of welding them up. On the stud holes, I'm welding them up and grinding them flush. On the heater hose holes, I'll have to cut some sheet metal patches and weld them in

If you have a 52 F-1 with a MagicAir heater installed, I would like to see some photos of your firewall showing where the mounting studs and heater hose holes are located. I have a heater to refurbish, but I don't have it at the shop with me right now and I'm ready to weld. I'm not worried about exact locations right now, I just want to weld up the ones that are obviously wrong. My truck may have had one of these at one time, so, some of the holes I have may be correct. I'd just like to see what y'all have.

I'm sure Denny, our Magic Air guru, will be along to share pics of his 52. If your truck didn't begin life having a Magic Air, like my project truck, be aware that 51 and 52 heaters mount differently and have a different tube orientation. A 51 heater isn't right for a 52. Stu

 

It appears the fresh air knock out is still in your cowl so the truck probably never had a fresh air set up.

 

Here is mine on my 52 F1 with magic air heater. Looks like your one knockout is not knocked out yet and the other is hacked up a bit but the bottom of that looks round and probably the original knockout

 

The fresh air tube inlet knock out on the RS kick panel is still intact which means your truck never had a Magic Air heater system . Most likely a standard box type recirculating heater . If you want to be yr. correct the core tubes on a '52 are 3 1/8" O.C.The '51 is 5 1/8 O.C.Both yrs. have the same triangular mounting studs . Fell free to give me a call 772-337-6393 . Will get you in the right direction om your MAH . You will need to use your die grinder & cut out the almost sq. RS kick panel knock out . Drill the corresponding 3 holes to attach the fresh air tube elbow . If need be I can make a template for the elbow & heater mounting . First thing I would do would be use your rear heater case to position the correct holes on the fire wall . That should tell you which holes should stay & which should be welded up If you need any parts for the heater system let me know .Check back often , Later Denny the "MAHK " on FTE

As seen in your pics the bottom knockout circle is for a '51 MAH . I believe the 3 mounting holes are in the correct position .

 

I think this is the location Denny is talking about. This is a little crusty as it was before I cleaned things up but you get the idea.
