I have a 99 5.4 navigator that had the power steering pump start leaking last winter. I tried to keep fluid in it but put it off untill spring where I replaced the pump. I had it on stands and worked the steering from lock to lock a million times but the whine noise is still there like when your low on fluid.
Ive been driving it for months since the new pump and no problems but the noise is bad. When I take off from a stop the noise increases with the rpms but once up to cruising speed its not heard.
Did I do damage waiting too long to replace the pump. What is the likely problem?
Thanks
