firefox - what the bleep
I like ff quite a bit -- so much that I (might) someday open my wallet and give'em a couple of bucks.
But, this latest release 48.01 -- has one real annoyance.
I set up my home screen to be blank ( like my mind), and I always do the private/no track browsing.
Unfortunately, with this release, they've made the whole screen purple - aubergine if you're a Scot or a Brit I guess -- and it's really distreacting.
Scouted areound a bit, but I think that I'm stuck with it.

I'm using 48.0 and haven't seen that on a normal browser. However, the purple screen does show up if I open a private browser.
I also had a popup indicate that there was a critical Firefox update available last night. Something about it didn't feel right. It opened in a new tab and referenced a URL that I'd never heard of. WHOIS.COM hadn't heard of it either, which suggests that it was a cleverly disguised scam. Had I gone forward with what claimed to be a Firefox update could have been anything.
Are you sure that you haven't installed something malicious?

No, I'm running 48.02 and all of the updates have been normal.
The purple screen only shows when I do private browsing -- which I always do.
Also my home screen is just a blank page.
It started right around 48. I suspect that tjct was right -- it's just to p*** me off.
