Hey new here and I hope you guys can help me out if(and when) I need it. So, on Saturday I will be replacing my clutch, flywheel, pressure plate, throw out bearing, and pilot bearing/bushing. I have searched and searched but can't for the life of me find out what trans fluid my truck needs. It is an 81 F-100 3spd with OD. Trans letter is B. I'm gonna try to upload the picture of the door sticker(amazing that after 35 years the factory sticker is still there) but if I cant just let me know what information you guys need to let me know what trans I have and what fluid I need. Thank you so much guys!!
4.5 pints of 80-90w gear oil. The thick stinky stuff that goes in the rearend. You have the SROD transmission.
Pints and not quarts? Are you sure I have the SROD? I researched as best as I could for my trans and all the websites I checked pointed towards the AOD(correct me if thats not actually a/my trans) but I'm relatively bew to the classic car/truck game but I am determined to have this beast back on the road.

yes pints now how many pints to a quart?
I did not check. Your code but basted on 3sp with OD that would make it SROD.
SROD = Single, Rod or Rail, Overdrive
And yes my parts truck has the same trany and it leaked 90wt when I pulled it out.

Thank you so much man!! Now how would I go about checking what wt is currently in my trans when I drain it just so I know if the previous owner messed up?
This kind of stuff is listed in the Owner's Manual; if you don't have one, you should purchase one from eBay or some such and read it. Even a $20 Haynes or Chilton manual can provide decent, basic information.

The correct oil will have a very stinky odor to it and be thicker than the other types of oils. If you go to the store and get a new bottle of 80-90w, take the cap off and take a wiff, it stinks bad. The oil coming out of the tranny will have the same smell.
