headliner question

Hello all- I am looking to replace my headliner with a new plastic with vinyl from stock interiors. A previous owner had replaced the headliner at some point with some type of carpet and in doing so looks like either replaced the trim with some type of other trim or at least installed the carpet material on the trim. Can these headliners be installed with trim? If so, does anyone have any pics showing no trim?

try the search function, you'll find a number of headliner threads. Here's a recent one.

Thanks for the response. I did try a pretty extensive search but was unsuccessful. I noticed a huge typo in my initial question though....I meant to ask if these headliners could be installed without the trim pieces and for pictures/installation tips doing so without the trim pieces

Anything is possible, however most of the support work is done by the trim. You would need several screws all around the edges or could perhaps use some of the little plastic "Christmas tree" fasteners like the newer door panels use- hidden under whatever material you decide to use to cover the headliner.

You should find a local upholstery shop in your town. I had mine done to match factory for around $100 I think. The headliner only has one screw in the very center. The rest is held in place by the trim. I would think that it would b very difficult to mount without the trim pieces.
