Do a complete fluid change. Make sure you have a good sized external cooler. The factory version is a bit small if you plan to tow. Keep the one mounted in the radiator. Add or replace the one mounted in front of the radiator.
Lookup The Punisher Valvebody. He posts and I think he is a vendor over on NLOC.
One other thing.....make sure your truck has an E4OD. Check the sticker on the driver side door jamb. Look for the Trans Code.
No my truck is Maf if I'm correct. So I would a speed density 351 to put in it or a Maf 351? Yes the stock chevy heads suck. Their best heads by far were the vortec heads..
You said your truck had 2 pipes from the air box to the TB if so it isn't MAF.
This pic is of a MAF truck:
This pic is of a speed density truck notice the difference in the pipes.

The 1994-95 version typically came with a roller cam.
You mean the OBDII 96 trucks don't have MAF? My dad bought a 96 Bronco brand new OBDII Maf 351W E4OD. I know he knows it is MAF because he said they had to replace the MAF sensor 2 months after buying the truck. It took me forever to get him to like MAF sensor systems once I got into trucks because of that.
The F4TE roller cam helps the 351s out alot. Dad's 95 F250 and Bronco both with 1/4 million miles run and almost keep up with my freshly rebuilt 302.

The punisher Valve body helps a ton. I hated the E4OD because of the shift points till I drove dad's 95 bronco with one now I want a E4OD truck.

I never stated OBD-II trucks were not MAF. I stated they have some unique pieces related to the OBD-II powertrain control. EGR and tube, EGR feedback sensor and the mis-fire detector on the harmonic balancer.
The latter can be in place and not connected but to use a 1996 5.8L F150/Bronco engine in a 1995 and earlier truck the older EGR system needs to be swapped on.
