Ok like it says I'm new to the forum although I have read many bits out of here. Kinda like my favorite book. But have a few questions on primarily the 93 to 94 model f150. Ok first off what year had the speed density and what year for Maf. How far can I take one mod wise cams heads etc. The truck k im looking at is a 94 model swb 2wd 5.0 not sure which trans tho. Aod or e4od? Thanks. Yes I understand the breach button but I have yet to find the straight answers I'm.looking for
Going to have an E4OD. Maf didn't come till 95. Not sure if it was optional in 94 though only one way you are going to know if there is 2 pipes from the intake into 1 then it is Maf if not it is speed density.
Speed density can't take to much on the modding unless done just right.
The Maf can take more but still got to be careful about what you do on it.

Well it's two form the air box to the tb. Well what kind of cam would I be limited too. The heads are pretty much a bolt on if I not mistaken thinking of gt40 heads maybe a slight port matching. What can I do before I upset the computer
The roller cam in these trucks aren't to bad in these trucks. Throw some 1.7 roller rockers, a good exhaust system, headers, Gt40 heads, and bump the timing to around 12* BTDC.
Some guys say they can stroke the engine out and do a bit more and keep the speed density happy but the above is what I hear the most.
I personally have a 302 that I put a 31-255-5 comp cam (flat tappet), a good exhaust system and bumped the timing to 12* and it made a huge difference. My next mods are GT40 heads, headers, and roller rockers.
The 302 will never give you lots of low end torque though. If you are looking for that then you better look into a 351W. Gears help a lot though. The 4.10s in my 88 really helped it out.

Well I understand most of that. Not looking to stroke it out maybe the above with some electric fans and what not. My plans for later are to a 5.8 swap. Is there any kind of tuning that can be done on these trucks or just a cheap chip. And really 1.7 rockers?
5L trucks came with a 4R70W or E4OD in this vintage. Check the door jamb sticker for the Transmission Code. E4OD should be an E. 4R70W should be a U I believe.

Mid-1994 was the first trickle of MAF equipped 5L trucks.

Well I'm not sure about the jam sticker have to look again. I haven't had to many dealing with a 4r70w but the 4r100 backing the v10 tow pig has been good considering the truck has 350 on the clock. So there's a good chance it's a Maf Truck.?

Ya the rockers give the cam a little more lift to help it out.
I haven't done an electric fan on anything yet so not sure if there are any power gains there.
Chips are useless in OBDI trucks which is what you will have. OBDII is a better with chips but frankly I have a chip in my OBDII Chevy and it didn't do a thing I probably will be getting rid of it for some custom tunes.
I think these trucks are tuned about as much as they can be in stock form. You can put a quarterhorse tuner on them but I haven't seen anybody do it in stock form.
RLA I forgot about the 4r70w. I have had so many of these trucks and none have had the 4r70w. Personally I like the E4OD and C6s more. I sure wish our 95 bronco was a MAF 351W but didn't get that lucky on it.
Well I can understand the rockers just wasnt sure about the 1.7 most of the 350s I have dealt had 1.6. but the stock TBI heads on things suck so hard. Anyway. I'll have to check in the trans.

Ya 1.6s are stock. TBI chevy heads do suck. Truthfully the edelbrock heads on my previous 89 K2500 350 sucked also. I didn't like the set up on my 89 K2500 at all.

No it isn't MAF it is a speed density 351W in it. Will get another truck for myself that is a MAF 351W E4OD 4x4 95-96 to build a sport truck with after my 83 carbed 351W bronco is finsihed. Then my personal collection will have a bullnose 351W carbed, bricknose 302 speed density, and OBS 351W MAF for different usages.

No my truck is Maf if I'm correct. So I would a speed density 351 to put in it or a Maf 351? Yes the stock chevy heads suck. Their best heads by far were the vortec heads..

There is no such thing as a MAF 351. Any EFI 5.8 from ~1988 to 1996 will swap in. The 1996 version in the F150/Bronco has some unique pieces so I would stay away from them since they use OBD-II engine control.
The 1994-95 version typically came with a roller cam.
