Can someone tell me how to get to the exhaust manifold??? I thought it would be under the upper intake manifold but I took that off and it looks like I have to remove a bunch more crap to get to it... i have to replace the gasket since it is leaking, it's a 2wd 96 f150 with an inline 6... please be specific because I know absoluty nothing about inline 6s or efi engines general, I've only ever worked on older carbuerated small block v8s.... thanks guys
Once the upper intake is off, you have to remove the lower intake, since the intake and exhaust share bolts. The I6 is just the same as any other engine. Just remove the bolts that are holding the object you want.

Lol well yeah in that aspect they are the same! I can't believe you actually have to remove both intakes to get to it! I love ford to death but I can't believe they'd make something like this such a process... thanks man, I'll get to ratcheting!
It's actually pretty much the norm for the old-school I6 engines that had both exhaust and intake on the same side. Every old-school I6 I can think of shared bolts between the exhaust and intake.

Truth be told,,, they just did that to inconvenience you!!!
Wow I didn't know that... I figured exhaust manifold work was quick and easy on all engines since it's so easy on v8s... I got the intakes off, I gotta remove the alternator now since one of the bolts goes through the alternator bracket thanks for the info guys!
