M5OD rubber plugs

97 Ford Ranger 2.3 liter 4 X 2, 5 speed M5OD. The service manual shows three plugs just forward of the gearshifter. I went to replace these based on warnings about transmission meltdown. This tranny has no plugs. There are three solid bosses there but no plugs? Am I missing something? Did they build some of these M5OD without the rubber plugs?

maybe they are metal plugs or did ya mean are no holes at all i have m50d 99ranger 54+k
