Chat told me yesterday all the info they have access to is the status and ETA if there is one. Guy said the dealer could access more. Also stated the three possible status levels are "in processing," "in production," and "in transit. "
That's what they have told me on my numerous chat attempts. They also said an ETA is not listed until it's in transit. Other people have reported an ETA way before that stage. Who knows what the truth really is.
I know this has been stated before but, your ordering dealer gets a statement every Friday that shows all VIN's and projected build dates for each vehicle they have on order, as long as the order 1) has been submitted by the dealer, and a DORA (not the Explorer) has been produced...which you should also have access to around 24 hours after ordering (ask for it, to confirm your build is correct) longer (Monday) if done on a Friday (weekend), and 2) Ford swept your order from the ordering portal the dealer uses. Mine was delayed a week as Ford did something to their order system around the time "ok to ship/sell" took place, they didn't sweep any orders for anything, anywhere. I know this info to be true for retail, and I believe it to be true for stock as well.
Definitely get the DORA to confirm your order is accurate, and definitely bring the dealer a box of donuts on a Friday to get your VIN and build date.
you guys are all lucky, My order was a Fleet order so chat tells me they cant do anything for me. My fleet manager who ordered the truck hasnt heard back from the dealer yet as to any new update. last update was early july and there wasnt even a build scheduled. its looking more and more like I will just have to wait till the truck shows up, never get to utilize any of the tracking sites to gauge its delivery... btw does anyone know if fleet ordereds are handled any different than stock or retail?

Hope your right Azuretruck. Mine's been listed as "production status" for three weeks and had an ETA for two of the three weeks. Hopeful, but not holding my breath.

Definitely conflicting information. I've had an ETA for some time now, it has not changed, but then again my truck has been "in production" status for the same amount of time.
Part of it is the logistics of shipping. To make it cost effective Ford needs to make sure a certain number of vehicles are headed to the same rail port. Once there, Ford needs to make sure a certain number of vehicles can be loaded on to a hauler headed to the same dealer or dealers in the same area. In this case, all of the held up orders may be holding up shipping to some extent.
I'm sure somebody knows exactly once your truck has been built when it will ship, to which rail yard, and when the transport hauler will deliver to the dealer. What's frustrating is that we have no access to that info...only a very general and vague "ETA" which may not be updated frequently and is probably only a guess anyway.
From my perspective, I've had an unwavering ETA for awhile now...while others have been bumped back. That gives me a glimmer of hope it arrives on time, but I'm sure as heck not going to be surprised if it doesn't.
my fleet manager keeps messing with me, saying theyr just gonna go pickup a 2016 off the lot for me because they cant keep waiting...
There is a gorgeous 2016 F-450 King Ranch that showed up at one of my local dealers, in the gem green color with tan lowers. It is stunning, costs about $72, but there is probably $10k that could be taken off that truck.
Its tempting, but there's no way I could forgo all of the updates to the '17. Aluminum, boxed frame, more torque, much more upgraded interior, etc.

I've had that discussion with myself many times lately. Plenty of nice '16s on the lot, and they could likely be had for a great deal. My dad just bought a '16 a couple months ago and it's very nice, and makes my '08 look outdated and old. Then, I think, I'm going to have this truck for a long time, I'd hate to be stuck without all the goodies that come with the '17 and be kicking myself for 10 years. So, I will delay the gratification for another 2.5 years and get what I really want. I will just live vicariously through you guys for a while.
So my dealer said that my build date was updated to yesterday the 22nd and it now says "locked in". I have zero faith in the date holding but does anyone know what locked in is supposed to signify?

Never heard of it. However, ETIS should reflect the 22nd if it was actually built. It might take time to update, though.

Agree with that. I have always looked for a little better bargain, better price, more in line with what I have to spend etc. Two generations back on the TV, one gen back on the phone, fairly new but yet still used in automobiles, two or three generations back on processors and computer hardware but always looking to save a few bucks. Now is the time that all those saved bucks in the IRA are mine to use so that I can get the newest truck and enjoy the front curve of the wave. And through all these years of 2nd generation I have always had and enjoyed good products and not even wished hard for the newest thereby enjoying that which I did get. And even now with the 2017 I sometimes wish for the DRW but that I will put to bed after the first trip with the camper on it's back. Only time will tell the accuracy of this choice. And this is one new vehicle I wish everyone could be lined up for......oh wait, they are and they are all in front of me. That's what I get for waiting until 23 April to order. LOL Yours will come when the time is right. Keep the faith.
