Gents, doing some tail light wiring and just happened to feel the pink (extremely hot) wire that runs from the ignition switch into the harness. any idea where it goes?
Looks like it goes to the resistor then to the + on the coil, and to the starter relay.
That is what it says on the 1958-1960 wiring poster I got. Hope its right and helps.
Thanks, much appreciated. i've determined that the wiring has been modified [train wreck] and the diagram i have is almost useless. combine that with my inexperience and someone should put a tent over this circus!
I am doing my wiring right now on my 57. I got my wire harness from ez wiring. It looks to be good quality and the price is right. The wires are marked every 5 inches. Also they have good tech support. ezwiring.com
will do the same, have any info on the panel and where to buy?
What Grinchman said is good. I saw one of these and they are pretty sweet. Like he said labels and such. It is probably the best option.
I am still looking at a few options. The old crap still "works" but I am working on other things first. It is also still hot as hell outside so this would be a winter project.
Update: tail issue resolved, seems like previous owner canceled tail lights for turn signals. can't have all three with two wires. [he put the "J" in genius]. the ezwire kit is on order and will be a winter project. thanks for the suggestion.
Might be brake light power switch. Check voltage thru pink wire with ground. If no voltage, jumper the two connections on brake light switch and check voltage on pink wire again. Will at least tell you if it is the brake light source power
