im pretty sure that I can get him to come down on the price. I just want to know what to look out for when looking at this truck? common problems and what not.
If you look in the tech folder on this forum it will give you lots of great pointers. One thing I would say for sure is take something with you that can read the engine codes, since the check engine light is on. Search for a member called Tugly, he has an excellent link in his signature for OBD readers for these trucks (not all readers can connect to our trucks properly) that work out pretty cheap, and will more than pay themselves back over time.
That is a cheap price generally speaking. That interior looks torn up, how's the underside of the truck look? It's not too hard to check the springs for broken or badly sagging springs. Look at the rotors to see how bad they are. For that price those would not be show stoppers. Turn the oil fill cap upside down on top of the fill hole to check for blow by. If it flies off there's a major engine issue, if it just rattles around and slides off that's good. Of course if you could check compression that would be great but it's a little tough to do. Look for bent up front end parts. And of course underneath body rust.
I havent seen the suv in person yet i will be in about 2 hours. im not too worried about the interior, ill get some seat covers. Its more about space for me.

There's plenty of space in there, no doubt. Try to perform a cold start and see how hard it is to start. Don't let them know you're coming or they might have it running for you when you get there.
Just getting home from looking at the excursion... it had some exterior dings. What I noticed was, when I drove it it rattled and I thought in my head wheel bearings. 3 seconds later the abs light came on... the left side latch is broken on the rear door, when idling it stumbled every 7 seconds for a second. The transmission shifted hard into 4th gear, the power lock button inside didnt work. The engine bay was a bit dirty around the turbo. Im going to pass on that truck and just get a v10 and save myself a headache. Ill achieve my dream of buying a diesel when I trade my Silverado in, in 2 years
