Trying to find a part number for a window crank. Supposedly they have a longer shank for the Lariat door panels. I believe this is the engineering number. D6OB-6523342-aa. So what would the part number be? Hoping Mike or ND can help.
Handle, front door window regulator
Fits:
74-77 F100-500 from s/n U80,001
78-79 F100-350 (Exc. 81E)
D4TZ-1023342-A
RH & LH, includes black plastic ****, w/ depressed rings and step-down center
I "think" model 81E is either cab and chassis or flareside. Styleside is model 99.
Also, there's no mention in the catalog about anything being different for the Lariat trim.
I just pulled a few off, and here's what I found! Black ****=shorter shank, Clear ****=longer shank...My Lariat truck had clear ***** as did 2 of XLT bronco's. But my XLT trucks all had black *****...So, the clear **** window cranks do have longer shanks than the black ones!! IIRC some of the 70's cars also used the clear handles! Maybe Mike or Bill will know!!

Long shank on the left, common short on the right. The trucks with the fancy door panel inserts (Ranger XLT & Ranger Lariat) used the long shank to keep the handle from rubbing.

Wouldn't happen to have two you would like to sell would you.

The window crank handle won't rub on the door trim panel as long as the nylon plate, designed to keep this from occurring, is still present between the handle and panel.

ND, the Ranger XLT & Ranger Lariat door panel inserts are about 1/4 to 3/8" thick, & mount on a standard door panel. If you force a short shank crank on to those panels, even with the nylon washer, the entire crank will rub the insert & chew it up in short order. The long shank cranks space the crank away from the panel so they do not rub.
Well I do agree that the longer shank window cranks are overall better for the lariat and XLT door panels. I can also state that the shorter shanks on (2) of my 79 trucks with XLT panels, are still in great condition. Both are factory originals, never changed out. BUT both trucks are low mileage (47K and 81K original miles--bought from the original owners) so this obviously plays a part in the condition. Each truck (after removing the handles) do show some "very" slight indention's on the panels from the nylon washers. Each handle also has the nylon washer on them which probably has saved the panels!!
With that being said, if you have lariat or XLT panels, the longer shanks (clear *****) would be my preferred choice to preserve the insert panels!!

Totally agree with you, the longer shank will give less wear on the panel. I have driver quality panels on now, but have a nice oem set that I still need driver side stainless trim with woodgrain to complete. That is when the long shank handles will go on. Buy the way, just got back from the Woodward Dream Cruise today. Lots of cool cars and trucks. Fun making some noise.
