95 7.3L PSD Idles rough and no power

Help!

I have a 95 F250 PSD DI that runs like crap!

I fueled it up a couple of nights ago and drove 40 miles with no problems. I started the truck, moved it 20' and turned it off. When I turned it back on it ran fine for 2 seconds then the check engine light came on, It started running really rough and got a ton louder. When I step on the gas it shakes and finally starts picking up RPMS but is still running like crap and no power.

I tried to read the codes with an Innova 3100 code scanner but it cant communicate with the computer. I heard that even though the 16 pin connector is there the computer is not ODBII so I cannot read the codes. It doesnt have the old style connector either.

I drained the fuel thinking that there was water but it didnt help. I also changed the fuel filter and that didnt help.

Everytime I start it up it idles great for 2 seconds and then starts running like crap again.
The dealer told me that they dont even have time to look at it this week and they have no idea what it could be.

Does anybody have any idea whats wrong? Or maybe know of a code reader that works with this truck?

After seeing all the posts for similar problems, I replaced the CMP sensor with a brand new one and it didnt make a difference.

Check your fuel pressure, sounds like the lift pump is about gone. Mine acted the same way, sounds like it is running out of fuel.

My Check Engine is also on. The pump is less than 6 months old. If your talking about the one in the "valley".

Yes, the one in the "valley of death" when you drained the fuel and changed filter did you possibly get air in the system. Took about 10 miles to get air out of fuel system on my truck, but mine did not have a CEL on. The Snap_On MT2500 scanner called the "red brick" will pull the codes if you know anyone who has one.

Nope, Air isn't the problem. It was acting up with CEL on prior to checking filter and regulator.

Is the oil level good? I've read on here that it could cause that too.

wiring under valve cover

It could be a burnt wire under the valve cover. Check by pulling the connector off and check for oil in the connectors.

Check out my blog for a photo of the valve cover gasket.
