Had the simple task of replacing the instrument cluster voltage regulator. I removed the headlight ****, the bezel, the tachometer electric cable, I went for the speedo cable. Well, in removing the quick release, the aged plastic turned to snow.

Replacement seems to be hard to come by...
You posted this thread in the 1948/56 truck forum, but none of these trucks have an ICVR and that dash is from a much newer vehicle.
So what year/model vehicle are you working on?
Some FoMoCo cars and trucks used an instrument cluster back made of a composition material that can CRACK APART and/or TURN TO DUST before your very eyes!
It turns our Bo is out of the office for a bit due to some scheduled surgery. Another gentleman spent about 30 minutes on the phone with me and finally uncovered the part in their inventory - unfortunately, it was just the bezel.
Fortunately, another channel landed me the whole instrument cluster with gauges minus the bezel - for a bit more money than I had hoped , but this will put her back on the road where she belongs.
Now I just have to wait for the package to arrive and get some time to spend putting it all back together again.
In rebuilding the dash instrument cluster, I ran across this bugger of a part between the voltage regulator and the connector on the circuit board. What is it?

Is it a Radio Choke? Do I need it? It was not on my 78 but it is on the donor parts.
