my 1970 f-100 didn't have an ignition when I picked it up, so i decided to use one out of a 73, every wire matched up except a purple one on the 73 and a orange thicker one on the 1970. is it impossible to use an other ignition besides one from 1970.
No I meant it sure is possible....sorry for misunderstanding.

Sparky, I would sure like to see that schematic as well! I've put a 76 ignition into my 69 and I'm having trouble getting it to run. So if possible could you send it my way?
Thanks
Ok of course I lost the schematic.....cant wait til i have a problem me and Mr. Multimeter will have a date for sure
I checked the switch and this is how it is wired.
I used the 76's switch and connector and left about 1-2 inches of each wire on the connector.
Then spliced the wires from the switch to the truck wiring as follows:
Large yellow to large yellow
Large black/green stripe to large black/green stripe
purple/white stripe to purple
red/green stripe to red/green stripe and large pink
red/blue stripe to red/blue stripe
There is another wire, small black/green stripe, on the 76's switch connector that I didnt use until I added duraspark to the truck then it was used to power the ignition module in the "run" position.
