I wanted to share a recent issue with my transmission. Two days ago I noticed that my torque converter was locking way to early when the vehicle was cold. It was also reluctant to disengage when approaching a stop. Transmission was serviced 10K ago and has never missed a 25K service over the life of the vehicle.
I took it to a transmission specialist that I trusted. He diagnosed and repaired the issue for less than $300. What he found was a faulty TCC Solenoid in the valve body. He also replaced all accessible check ***** in the valve assembly. The truck is back to me good as new. I hope this offers someone some guidance in the future. If it happened to me it will happen to someone else.
Very interesting, thanks for sharing this. Glad to see your transmission still ticking along after that many miles!
Me too. I was worried at first about having to rebuild it. I hate to put that money into a vehicle that I'm trading next year. It shifts as good as it ever did.
And I hope you praise your mechanic publicly as well. An honest and efficient repair, instead of the all too common "you need a new/rebuilt transmission".
