Wanting upgrade trucks, need help
1) If I find the right truck and the 6.4 powerstroke gives problems, does anyone make an adapter to fit the manual in the 08-10 trucks to the 6.7 powerstroke?
2) If so, couldn't one just change the transmission on the 11+ trucks to include the manual on the newer
3) would the manual from the 08-10 trucks handle the 6.7 powerstroke?
4)If so, and I start looking at the local swap shops and/or junkyards, what is the transmission called( ex: c6, e40d, zf-6, etc)
5) did Ford use the same manual in these years for the 6.4 and the 5.4 or 6.2?
2) Change newer truck to MT. Sure, again, you will have to make some of your own parts and reprogram the computer.
3) MT handle the 6.7--The ZF 6 was rated at 520 ft/lb, so it would last a short time.
4) ZF6
5) ZF 6 and 5 for those earlier trucks.
You could make an adapter for a NV5600, but I think that is rated lower than the 6.7 output as well.
What you are really doing in most cases here is downgrading the truck. I like the mt as much as anyone, but the fact is the new automatics have them beat. If you want a MT truck, buy an older truck. It is much easier IMO to rebuild the the "soft" parts of the truck around a drivetrain than to reengineer a modern computer controlled drivetrain.
